We're in the first day of 2020 and it's that time of the year where we reflect on my top 10 recipes for 2019 as we have done in 2018 and 2017! These are the top viewed and made recipes from you guys. The readers.
I can’t thank you all enough for following my blog, connecting with me and trying my recipes. It really does mean the world to me and I can’t wait to take Lights, Camera, Bake! to THE NEXT LEVEL in 2020. I hope you’ll continue to follow me and grow in your baking skills with me!
These recipes are based on the most viewed and shared recipes from my blog.
Number 1: Easy Date Scones
These scones are light and fluffy and packed full of dates! No rock hard scones here. Top with butter and runny honey and you have yourself the best brunch you could ever wish for!
I'm so happy you all love these date scones and as you can see from the comments on the recipe, they are the best!
Number 2: Condensed Milk Brownies
These brownies were a hit! They’re fudgy, gooey, chewy and are the best performing post on my blog to date! I know the recipe is awesome but sometimes its hard to get across just how awesome a recipe is so I’m glad I did with these brownies and as you will see from the top recipe number 3 below... These aren't the only condensed milk recipes to go viral!
Number 3: Condensed Milk Blondies
Condensed Milk Blondies are the vanilla/caramel version of the brownies above. We have an ultra fudgy and gooey blondie made from condensed milk with no eggs and filled with chocolate chips for added oomph.
If you haven't made these already, you should get on that stat!
Number 4: Black Velvet Cupcakes
Black Velvet Cupcakes are soft, fluffy and moist, have the same flavour as red velvet but are completely black!
These have dropped down a couple places from last year but this recipe still continues to be one of the top recipes on my blog!
Not everyone is a fan of the temporary mouth colour stain and some people complain that black food colouring has a bad taste. (I don’t know if it’s the brand you use but I use Queen or Hansells and they have been fine). These cupcakes are fun for a showstopping dessert or Halloween!
Number 5: Apricot Shortbread Crumble Slice
Apricot Shortbread Crumble Slice is a melt in the mouth shortbread base topped with tart apricot jam filling and finished off with a simple crumble top. Tart, buttery, comforting and one of my personal favourites.
Number 6: Caramilk Bars
The love for Caramilk chocolate (a caramelised white chocolate) is still strong this year!
Caramilk Bars. These are chewy, sweet and gooey. They have a little caramel flavour with a few pieces of white chocolate thrown in to create the flavour of Caramilk in cookie bar form.
Number 7: Leftover Cookies Cheesecake Bars
Leftover Cookie Cheesecake Bars…. An odd name and recipe but seriously awesome!
This was one of my first recipes on Lights, Camera, BAKE! and initially it did not get the traction I wanted or felt it deserved. (Probably the bad photos!). The recipe came about when I had far too many cookies baked and going stale in the cupboard so I decided to whip up a handy and tasty recipe for leftover cookies.
Number 8: Egg Yolk Sponge Cake
Egg Yolk Sponge Cake is a super light and fluffy sponge relying on egg yolks as the base which delivers a rich and fluffy sponge. Filled with whipped cream and jam, dusted with icing sugar and you have a classic sponge cake for dessert, morning tea or just for fun.
This is two of my cousins and friends absolute favourite recipes!
Number 9: KitKat Truffles
KitKat Truffles are three ingredients, no bake, quick and easy truffles that will blow your mind!
I was inspired by my friend to give the idea of this recipe a go and I'm so glad I did. In a few short months it has made it to the list of top performing recipes!
Number 10: No Bake White Chocolate Caramel Slice
Last but not least the No Bake White Chocolate and Caramel Slice! This slice combines a crushed biscuit base (with a twist), a gooey, buttery caramel middle and a sweet white chocolate top!
