Jell-O or Kool-Aid Edible Playdough

This is a fast and beautiful way to makeedible playdough with Kool Aid

1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
3 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
1 package Kool-Aid Mix OR Jell-o Mix (any flavor of unsweetened)
1 tablespoon cooking oil

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients together in a large saucepan. Slowly add water mixed with oil and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens to dough. Place on a heatproof service and knead until cool enough for children to handle. Dough will be the color of the Kool-Aid mix and will smell like the Kool-Aid mix. his dough can be stored in a tightly covered container for up to six months.

This recipe makes the most brilliant colors and the dough smells so yummy! My boys love it and it is so much cheaper hat the store brand! I think it is better quality too!

The runner up recipe is Peanut Butter Play Dough. I can not personally use this in my house since one of my boys is allergic o peanuts but it is a yummy recipe and many kids love it!

Peanut Butter Edible PlayDough

Ingredients:

one 18-oz. jar creamy peanut butter
6 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup non-fat dry milk

Simple Directions:

Mix ingredients together, using varying amounts of dry milk for desired consistencies.

Don’t forget small candies, dried fruit, and so on for eyes, and other fun additions to your creations!

Storage: When not using, MUST be stored in an airtight container.

  21. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (26)Elleswilson says

I’ve wanted to do something sensory/manipulative for my 16 month old son, but was afraid of him eating it. I don’t care if it says Non-toxic, if I don’t know what is in it, I don’t want him to eat it! So this was a great find! I don’t think ill have to monitor him to keep him from eating it though, as soon as I put it down for him, he took a big bite and vomited immediately! It does taste pretty nasty, but at least I know it’s nothing that’ll hurt him! 🙂
Also, to get more vibrant colors, add appropriate food coloring to oil + water mixture before adding to dry ingredients!

  22. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (27)no say says

This stuff is nasty I tried it and its gross

  23. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (28)threenorns says

with half a cup of salt to one cup flour, how by any stretch can the kool-aid dough be called “edible”!?

that amount of salt – assuming the child eats it – is toxic to littles!

  24. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (29)Nikki says

I just wanted to say that the amount of salt in this recipe I’m sure is to act as a preservative. If you diminish the amount of salt used in the recipe you probably don’t want to count on keeping it around for 6 months. Just my thoughts. I’m going to try it. But, one question does the koolaid stain things?

  25. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (30)Beck says

The original post that you link to says it’s NOT edible. In the comments Mama Jenn says it’s not meant to be eaten. She does say it SMELLS nice but that is all. Your post is misleading. Perhaps you should change it?

  27. 10 Yummy Edible PlayDough Recipes - "Deal"icious Mom (32)Jon says

I made this and it came out to sticky to play with, solved this by adding flour to smal batches at a time.
And by edible she means non-toxic. It is not meant as an appetizer.
